An order's history: what happened, newest first

Open History on any order to read its whole story, and the courier's own history for its tracking number.

Press History under an order number on Orders (or History on an Order confirmation card). The pop-up is a timeline like the one in Shopify: the newest line is on top, grouped by day. Click a line to open it.

What is on the timeline

  • Order came in from your shop, and Booked with PostEx (or another courier) using the tracker, with what the shop was told afterwards.
  • Dispatched, In transit, Delivered, Return claimed, Return received, each with how it was recorded: dispatch scan by Zaeem, CPR report “CPR 19 Oct 2026”, PostEx live update, status button by Zaeem. Click that wording to see the proof (the batch, the report row or the courier's message).
  • Tags added and removed (in the shop and in the tracker), updates received from the courier, details edited (what was changed, from and to), claims the order was added to or sent in, and notes.

Orders you logged by hand for the past read the same way: for example Return claimed (CPR report “CPR 19 Oct 2026”) on 19 Oct, then Return received (return scan by Zaeem) on 27 Oct.

The courier's own history

The tracking number on the booking line, and at the top of the pop-up, is a button. Click it and the courier is asked right then for the whole history of the parcel; the answer opens underneath, newest first. The small arrow beside it opens the courier's own website. PostEx sends its full list. Parcel sends its journey. Some couriers only tell the latest status, and then the tracker says so. Hand-booked couriers (TCS and others) have no live history: use the link.

Every courier message, kept (v91)

Since v91 every message the courier sends about a parcel is kept, in order, and never merged: if PostEx says Attempted three times, you see three lines, each with its own day and time and the reason the courier gave (for example PostEx: Delivery Attempted · customer not available). The Shopify states of the order sit on the same timeline, so one list tells the whole story. These lines are what Parcel watch and the courier rules read. Seeing the courier's lines needs the permission History: see every message the courier sent (owners, Manager, Booker, Dispatcher and Claims agent have it); other people see the rest of the history.

Easier to read (v93)

  • A one-line summary on top says where the order stands: its status and since when, the courier's last word, delivery attempts and their reason, when it was booked.
  • Each courier line uses our words for the courier's message, with the courier's own words under it (PostEx's En-Route to {14} warehouse reads On the way to the PostEx warehouse). What each word means is set for each courier: Courier states.
  • A delivery attempt and a refusal show on their own line, in the courier's words.
  • A message that changed nothing says so plainly: No change for the order: it already had this status.
  • Where the courier's own tracking page has more (city and hub names, steps no live update sent), its words are added; its extra steps show as grey lines.
  • Open all opens every line at once. You can also write a comment at the top: see Comments on an order.
TipCourier lines start from the day you install v91. Older orders show everything the tracker already knew (status changes, bookings, edits, claims).
